觊觎「jì yú」；（窥觊）

释义：

1、渴望得到不属于自己的东西；

2、希望得到不该得到的东西；

3、非分的希望或企图。

“觊觎”出自《左传·桓公二年》“庶人工商，各有分亲，皆有等衰。是以民服事其上，而下无觊觎”。杜预给出了明确的注解“下不冀望上位”。（《春秋左传集解》）

不过，得再看清楚些，这"民"和“下”可不是一个层次，有资格“冀望上位”的不包括“民”。

仔细想想，这倒是让当下常见的“搏上位”显得很可爱，小猫小狗谁都可以试试，怕啥！

“渴望得到不属于自己的东西”、“希望得到不该得到的东西”、“非分的希望或企图”这算是“觊觎”的正解，只要上了这道儿，罪过一个比一个大。

贾谊觉得秦国“君臣固守以窥周室”很是可恶（《过秦论》），姜夔“自胡马窥江去后”一直难过（《扬州慢》）；两千多年了，“周德虽衰，天命未改。鼎之轻重，未可问也”，这话其实没几个人相信。
