蜜蜂在采集到花蜜以后，首先会把这些花蜜装在蜜胃中，蜜蜂的蜜胃并不消化蜂蜜，而是暂存在里面，就像一个口袋一样暂时的保存蜂蜜，到蜜蜂采集满蜂蜜以后才会回到巢里，然后把蜂蜜吐出来，让蜂群中的内勤蜂进一步加工处理，最后经过水分的散失和加入活性酶以后才变成我们看到的蜂蜜。

虽然说蜂蜜是经过蜜蜂加工过的，实际上也仅仅是进行了水分的去除和加入了活性酶以及各种营养物质，实际上主要成分还是花蜜，而花蜜是蜜源植物分泌的液汁，我们都知道，不同的蜜源植物有不同的味道，我们人可以通过花香味闻出不同的蜜源植物，实际上就是因为不同的蜜源植物味道不相同，比如我们闭上眼睛闻到桂花香据知道是桂花，进入油菜花林中不用看我们都知道我们在油菜花丛中，主要就是因为不同的蜜源植物味道不同。
